Elton John’s Black Tie Event Mourns The Death Of Jackson

As previously reported, Elton John opened his newly renovated gallery to the celebrity elite to raise money for his Aids Foundation. Unfortunately, the event turned from celebration to mourning as the news of Jackson’s death spread:

SIR ELTON JOHN paid a moving tribute to MICHAEL JACKSON at his annual charity ball on Thursday (25Jun09).
The Rocket Man hitmaker’s White Tie and Tiara Ball was in full swing in the U.K. on Thursday night when the news broke that the King of Pop had died after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Guests at the bash – including Justin Timberlake and Shirley Bassey – were left shocked at the news.
Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford says, “It was like an instant viral just spread. It just instantly changed the energy of the party.”
Sir Elton John then took to the stage and performed his hit track Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me in honour of Jackson – to rapturous applause from the star-studded audience.

Below you will find photos of Justin leaving the event and arriving back at his hotel. Even though I’m sure the news was tough to take, he is still polite and attempts to put on a brave face. Poor guy . . . my heart goes out to him and Jackson’s family.
